About Inala Kindy
Inala Kindergarten and Community Preschool was established in 1968 by a group of parents who felt a need in the community for the education of young children. Initially, the Inala Nazarene Church in Sitella Street was utilized, during which time the present building was constructed, and officially opened at the beginning of 1971. It has continued to serve families not only in the local area but a great number of families now travel from surrounding suburbs to attend this quality community resource.
The kindergarten is a not for profit community Kindergarten. This means that any profit is direct back into the kindergarten, for the benefit of the children and families. A volunteer management committee is elected each year from the parent body and they are responsible for the overall management of the Kindy. The director does the day to day running of the centre. The land and the building are owned by the Brisbane City Council and all of the equipment is owned by the Kindergarten.
The Kindergarten is affiliated with C&K, which is a voluntary, company Limited by Guarantee, non-government organisation concerned with the care and education of children from 0 – 6 years of age. C & K is our Central Governing Body. In this role they distribute State Government funding (QFS) to our centre. They also provide support to us and monitor our compliance. An Early Education advisor from C & K regularly visits the centre to ensure that these high standards are being maintained. The director and committee also ensure the centre maintains licensing requirements to meet the National Quality Framework.
Attending Inala Kindy is a legacy amongst our community, with multiple generations attending the centre and helping to make it grow to what it is today. It is often said that our kindy is ‘The hub’ of our community, where life long friendships are formed.
